It was another one of those things that if I hadn’t seen it, I wouldn’t have believed it.
My daughter Sara loves animals and she has had a variety of them
as pets over the years. When she came
back from the beach a few years ago, she brought back some miniature turtles.
They were so cute and not much bigger than a quarter. We also have a miniature dachshund, Little John. So I kept the turtles high up on a counter
to keep him away from them. And I put them in a deep container so they couldn’t
crawl out. Or so I thought.
We came in home one day and Sara’s turtle Reg was missing from
his box. That stumped me. I thought somebody would have had to pick him
up. Then I realized the little coral
tree decoration was sitting close to the container’s edge. Could he have climbed the tree and gotten
out? He could have fallen off the
counter to a lower counter, to a stool, and then to the floor. Could he do all that and survive? I doubted it until I found him across the
room behind the dog’s crate. Yep! He did all that plus he didn’t get eaten by
Little John!
“The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I
fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1 (NKJV)
I think part of the reason
Reg the turtle was able to do all that was his lack of fear. Reg didn’t
question. He just kept going. What if we did that as Christians? What if we didn’t let fear stop or hinder
us? We just kept going and working for
the Lord. Wow! What a difference we could make.
